Liberty Elementary has been proud to join our fourth grade student Edwin Martinez Pineda in his fight against cancer through our Unite The Fight campaign. On Tuesday June 1, we ended the year with a one-man parade to honor this courageous young man. The school would like to give a special shout out to Kim Markham of Asheboro Recycling who helped to organize the parade. His car club brought about a dozen classic and newer cars for Edwin to choose his ride in the one-man parade. He chose Mike Moore's McLaren! The entire club, along with Liberty fire department, Julian fire department, Staley fire department, EMS, and the Liberty Police showed up with horns and sirens to support Edwin on this special day. Through donations and bracelet sales, we were able to provide a large donation to help with medical expenses.
