From the time I graduated Randleman High School, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.  I received the North Carolina Teaching Fellows scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  After graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, I began teaching second grade at Liberty School.

After a short time teaching, I realized I wanted to specialize in literacy.  I obtained my Master’s degree in Reading from UNC Greensboro and trained as a Reading Recovery teacher.  I served John Lawrence Elementary as a reading specialist for 2 years.  In 1999, I accepted a position as the district’s lead teacher for literacy. Serving in this role for 13 years, I worked with all RCS elementary schools on implementing best practices in reading, writing and social studies.

After completing my administrative licensure with UNC Greensboro, I accepted the position as Assistant Principal of both Franklinville and Level Cross Elementary schools. It is with this administrative experience that I’m excited to return to Liberty to serve the students, staff and community.

I reside in Randolph County with my husband and two girls who are following my educational footsteps.  In my view, there is no better place to be than RCSS!!!
